Catalyst Wake - Update 08

I'm very close to completing all the CGs for MIST! It ended up being more complicated than I thought to finish up the scenes I needed, and I've also decided that the first scene in MIST — which I'd planned to pretty much leave how it was — needs several more CGs, to make it more impactful and consistent with the number of CGs in the other scenes.

Here's a look at the making of one of the CGs I worked on this week:

Surprisingly, I found the time to fully implement all the CGs I'd created, and I'm very pleased with how everything flows.

This week it's onto the fun part — music, sound effects and polish. I'm lessening my workload for the next two weeks as we'll be recording all the voices.

For sound effects, I like to work with screen capture footage of the game, which is why I saved it for last. I didn't do this with Methods because there really weren't that many sound effects. But Catalyst Wake has a lot of action scenes and basically has as many sound effects as a full animation would. I just drop the video file into Logic and assemble each sound effect there.

It saves me the trouble of writing down which sound effects I need, and sometimes I notice opportunities for sound effects that I wouldn't have otherwise!

The scenes don't feel truly complete until the sound effects are in there, so I'm very excited for that!

Until next time!
